Miniload, or "Bin-type Automated Storage and Retrieval System," is a high-density, high-speed automated storage and retrieval solution for small to medium-sized, bin-level goods.
Simply put, you can think of it as a high-speed, vertically operated vending machine designed specifically for small to medium-sized goods. It uses standardized "bins" as its basic unit, and high-speed stacker cranes in aisles enable rapid storage and retrieval in three-dimensional space. It is widely used in e-commerce, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, and other fields that demand maximum efficiency.
Core Components and Working Principle
A standard Miniload system mainly consists of the following components working together:

● Storage and Retrieval Equipment | Miniload Stacker Crane | Moves at high speed on fixed tracks, precisely storing and retrieving bins using specialized forks or gripping devices.
● Conveying System | Conveyor lines, elevators, AGVs, etc. | Transports bins to be stored to the stacker crane's retrieval port and delivers outgoing bins to designated workstations.
The control system comprises a WMS (Warehouse Management System) and a WCS (Warehouse Control System). The WMS manages inventory and assigns tasks, while the WCS directs and schedules all equipment to work collaboratively.
The complete workflow is roughly as follows:
● Inbound: Goods are loaded into bins, scanned by the system, and assigned a storage location by the WMS. The stacker crane automatically stores the goods on the rack and updates the inventory information.
● Outbound: The WMS issues instructions, and the WCS plans the optimal route. The stacker crane automatically locates the bin, retrieves it, and places it on the conveyor line.
● "Goods-to-Person" Picking: In e-commerce and other scenarios, the system directly delivers the required bins to the picking station, eliminating the need for workers to move and significantly improving picking efficiency.
Technical Features and Core Performance
The Miniload system's powerful core stems from its outstanding technical parameters:● Ultra-High Speed: Top-tier stacker cranes can operate at speeds up to 6 meters per second, with accelerations reaching up to 5 m/s².
● Extreme Height: A single stacker crane can operate at a height exceeding 20 meters, fully utilizing the potential of vertical space.
● High throughput: A single unit typically achieves 100-200 accesses/hour. Some advanced systems, such as the "DUOSYS" dual-aisle four-machine parallel technology, can handle up to 2200 boxes/hour.
● Ultra-thin storage layers: Through compact design, rack height can be as low as 300mm, increasing storage density by over 30% compared to traditional pallet storage.
● High precision and high load capacity: System positioning accuracy reaches millimeter level, with single box loads typically between 50-300 kg, suitable for most small and medium-sized item needs.
